My lovley friends, how are you? I’m feeling super good, Christmas is almost here, and my guy proposed to me last week! So, I’m in a romantic mood… Hence, I have not been able to get these lovely patterns off my mind this week!
Here is a few truly mouth watering examples of modern toile, by Manuel Cañovas. I love his use of colors! Do you know how this fabulous pattern originated?
Toile de Jouy originated in France in the late 18th century, and is a type of decorating pattern consisting of a usually white or off-white background on which a repeated pattern depicting a fairly complex scene, generally of a pastoral theme such as (for example) a couple having a picnic by a lake. Toiles also often consist of an arrangement of flowers.
A bit more unusual Toiles with red background, and also gold pattern on black. I’m such a fan! From here.
Chinese motifs are quite often seen on Toiles as well.
Here are two fabulous examples of a classic Toile on the left, and moder Toile on the right. Both wallpapers in beautiful blue purple color. Cañovas and Mimou.
How about this one then? It’s not a typical Toile but definitely tells a story, no? This one would be perfect for a globetrotter’s home. From here. Have a lovely day! xo, Tiina from ELCE.
